Liturgical
Liturgical Spirituality:
Feeding our souls with the Liturgy
This presentation looks at all liturgy as a way of being and will helps participants to see the connection between Mass on Sunday and the rest of their week.
Lectors:
From Readers to Proclaimers
The teachings of the Church from the Second Vatican Council through Pope Benedict have stressed that one of the presences of Christ in the Eucharistic liturgy is when the scriptures are proclaimed. Any one can read the readings but it takes someone of faith who has prepared the readings to proclaim them with authority. This workshop helps lectors to become proclaimers, by understanding their role and the way to prepare the readings.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
Why we do what we do?
Eucharist is a central part of the Church’s life and ministry and to be a extraordinary minister takes more than just knowing what to say. The distribution of Eucharist and the taking of Communion to those who are sick and homebound is a special ministry that needs to be understood not just from the mechanics of the ministry, but from the theology of the ministry.
Liturgy With and For Children:
Liturgy isn’t cute with gimmicks
The liturgy is never cute and so how do children learn that basic concept when they are only given entertainment? This presentation looks at liturgy from the eyes of a child but also from the documents and tradition. How can children understand without being talked down to or have it turned into a “show”.
Liturgical Year:
Here it comes again!
The Church in her wisdom gives us the liturgical year to help us ever grow in our understanding of the Paschal Mystery and the gift of salvation. This presentation shows the development of the Church’s year throughout the ages and highlights the underpinnings from our tradition and theology.
